Black & Veatch UK is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer (UK Water Engineering Experience - Strong Eurocodes skills) based in the Glasgow office who will be reporting to the Department Head and the Structural Engireering Chief. The candidate will locally manage the Structural Engineering team and respond to requests for the Structural Engineering support.
The Senior Structural Engineer will be providing structural advice and design support to the Redhill office. Undertaking inspection work as required and liaising with contractors on site. Supervise the local team of Structural Engineers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Capable of working on their own, managing structural design for large projects and leading a small team of Structural Engineers locally.
• Local controller of design standards, training, staff problems, workloads, etc.
• Experienced in the use of Eurocodes and working within the UK Water Industry.
• Able to act as a representative of the company and exercise judgement.
• Be experienced in the inspection and assessment of structures and have good report writing skills.
• Good knowledge of the design and detailing of buildings.
• Use of industry design and analysis software (e.g StaadPro).
• Experience of bridge inspection work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Competences:
• Engineering Degree
• Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE) with a very solid and extensive post-Chartered experience.
• Experienced in the use of Eurocodes and working within the UK Water Industry (MUST).
• Good written & verbal communication skills. Clean driving licence.
• Motivated self-starter, approachable, team-player
• The candidate will need to have a car.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
• Chartered Civil Engineer (MICE)
• Water industry experience. Confined spaces – or willingness for training.
• Knowledge of bridge inspection and reporting.
Special Requirements:
• Confined spaces training desirable otherwise a willingness to train for confined spaces entry is essential. Therefore, the post should be subject to passing medical for confined spaces entry.
