Contract-to-Hire opportunity. Electrical engineering and power distribution design in the telecommunications field, including power transformers, switchboards, dc battery systems, lighting panels, and grounding. This position is design-oriented, using software tools to perform some assignments. Functions in a mid level engineering capacity, or technical specialist. Under general supervision, performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis. Broadens knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Engineering specialist will be involved with electrical designs to meet client requirements while applying Black & Veatch tools for specific tasks. Electrical design will consist of sizing service entrance equipment for specific loads, including transformers, and over current protective devices in accordance with the National Electric Code (NFPA 70 |NEC). Other design parameters include load studies, voltage drop analysis, ambient temperature considerations, and wire raceway types. Working knowledge of single phase 120/240/480 VAC, three phase 480/277| 208/120 VAC and 5/12/24/48 VDC.
Minimum Qualifications:
Prefer Bachelor's degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred or any other degree, specialized training, or experience, that makes the individual uniquely qualified to perform the job responsibilities.
Minimum of 3 years related work experience
Prefer a minimum of 3 years in the field of electrical engineering power distribution design, with experience in switchboards, circuit breakers, power transformers, generators, one-line development, dc battery systems, and grounding.
Highly prefer someone with ability to apply NEC rules for OCPD/wire/conduit sizing.

Basic knowledge of procurement & contract administration Basic knowledge of process, procedures for project controls and estimating. Basic knowledge of technical aspects of the proposal process.
