The Manager of Engineering is accountable for ensuring that engineering personnel with the proper expertise are available and that tools are in place to support project and proposal execution efforts. S/he is also accountable for maintaining the productivity and billable rate for the office and developing and maintaining overhead budgets. The Manager of Engineering has the authority to recruit and allocate resources, provide training and administer the office in accordance with applicable policies, standards and guides.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
As Engineering Manager lead efforts to:
• Establish the office engineering methodology collaborating with the Energy Chief engineers in implementing engineering process, standard, guides, specifications, tools, continuous improvement and training in accordance with the Quality Management System.
• Execute and report quality improvement efforts for engineering design, deliverables, and associate interfaces with procurement and construction.
• Supervise technical problem resolution and facilitates interdisciplinary resolutions.
• Reports and take action on engineering execution quality.
• Support proposal efforts in engineering estimating and execution planning
Support Office Manager to:
• Administer, interpret and enforce Corporate, Business and Department policies.
• Execute office recruiting and hiring efforts.
• Approve office training needs, support development programs and administer office training budgets.
• Direct corrective action for discipline problems or poor performance within the office. Keep the Human Resources Department involved and informed as required.
• Manage the annual review process for office staff, administer and approve promotions.
• Monitor Department overhead budget and take action to ensure that budgets are not exceeded.
• Act to maintain morale for the Department, provide recognition to Department personnel and facilitate teamwork.
• Assist Office Manager with training and leadership development for the office and client engagement.
• Support client engagement efforts as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering from a recognized accredited university. Master's degree or above is preferred.
• Minimum 15 year experience in engineering and construction in power or oil and gas industry.
• Incumbents must have professional registration or licensure.
• Understand various scopes of work related to consulting engineering and EPC projects.
• Good interpersonal skills and proven large team/organizational leadership skills.
• Excellent command of English.
• Flexibility to travel.
