Primary Purpose:
To serve as a Resident Engineer.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, construct, supervise, operate, and maintain large construction projects and systems, including work in an Environmental Protection Code environment where Black & Veatch is either solely responsible or in a Joint Venture/Consortium with others under general supervision; provide subcontractors with information and direction, as outlined within contract specifications, to allow engineering and construction work to proceed as scheduled; interpret technical requirements and provide solutions in conjunction with Discipline Project Department Engineer and Discipline Superintendent; review and approve contractor payments, and keeps track of construction costs; maintain all field records and closeout the project; assist in the preparation of field correspondence and change orders; prepare and monitor punch lists; prepare partial and substantial acceptance documents; maintain and track RFI (Request for Information)s, RFCs (Requests for Clarification) Submittals, and O&M Manuals using Contract Manager and Project Wise; prepare regulatory compliance plans and maintain all construction permits; prepare monthly project progress reports; process subcontractor & vendor approval requests, and contractor extension of time requests; provide day-to-day direction to administrative staff and field inspectors; coordinate/monitor QA/QC inspections, equipment startup and field tests; review base line schedules and construction progress schedules; perform field inspections of the construction of water tunnels, water and wastewater treatment plants to assure conformance with the contract drawings, specifications, and applicable codes & standards; document the work and reports any nonconforming work; review shop drawings of reinforced & pre-stressed concrete structures and their foundations (mat foundations, circular foundations, conical base slabs, and pile foundations), steel & masonry structures, wood trusses, and metal building systems in water and wastewater treatment facilities to confirm conformance with contractual requirements and the referenced building codes and standards such as IBC, ACI 350, ACI 530, AISC, NDS, and ASCE 7; review concrete mix designs, and concrete break reports for compliance with ACI 350.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering plus eight years of related experience. Must have Professional Engineering license in any U.S. state, CMAA Certified Construction Manager certification, or certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) certification. Must have experience with New York City Department of Environmental Protection and its standard operating procedures; NYC Building codes and standards; and other building codes and standards, including IBC, ACI 330, ACI 530, AISC, NDS, ASCE 7, or comparable standards. Must be familiar with AutoCAD, STAAD and construction project management softwares.
