The Telecommunications Division delivers telecommunication infrastructure solutions to utilities, local and state government agencies and the commercial wireless industry. Through a unique combination of experience, expert resources and innovative solutions, Black & Veatch supports the entire range of both legacy and emerging technologies used in today’s wireless and wireline networks, voice, video, Internet and data systems and utility automation.
Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role. Develop Distributed Antenna System (DAS) and Small Cell designs to support the deployment of in-building and small campus-sized networks from proposal stage to completion. Drive custom solutions for a wide variety of projects including solutions for high capacity events, transit systems, healthcare, standard office buildings, outdoor coverage areas, and then implement, integrate and optimize these solutions to meet customer requirements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1)Participate in site walks. Document structure and equipment rooms. Identify indoor antenna placement locations.
2)Define network architecture and equipment for each project.
3)Create and review designs using engineering tools such as iBWave, Planet, and ATOLL.
4)Complete and present design packages.
5)Travel to customer locations as required.
6)Direct or perform system testing utilizing CW channel scanners, spectrum analyzers, power meters, and network optimization tools such as TEMS or JDSU.
7)Analyze and summarize test data to evaluate key performance indicators.
8)Prepare and submit testing reports, close-out packages and acceptance documentation. Compile and maintain all project documentation in accordance with policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience
One year of DAS or small cell design and engineering experience.
Minimum of 3 years total RF engineering experience in UMTS/CDMA/LTE network design or optimization for an operator, equipment vendor, or a service provider.
IBwave training/experience or ATOLL or Planet training/experience
Preferred Job Qualifications:
1)Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering
2)Engineering consulting experience
3)Mobile Access, TE, CommScope or similar equipment certifications.
