Primary Purpose:
Support Black & Veatch’s Corporate Mission of Building a World of Difference by challenging the frontiers of knowledge to provide energy, water, information and other vital infrastructure for a better world. Functions as a Mining Process Engineer responsible for leading technical proposal preparation, process evaluations and selection of treatment schemes, detailed process design, commissioning and operational optimization. Other responsibilities include technical scope and budget preparation, and coordination with other discipline design staff. Experienced in project delivery methods (EPC, EPCM, etc) and all phases of project delivery (pursuit, planning, FEED, execution, etc). Note: This position could be located in any US or Canada B&V office.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the Mining Group Process Lead. Identify and develop innovative technical proposal development and solutions.

Provide process support for project pursuit, tender development, preliminary and detailed design, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, construction related services, performance and risk management, quality control and assurances, and start-up and commissioning services.

Work closely with other management to be a key advisor regarding trends and emerging issues in the process areas of the mining sector.

Serve as the lead process engineer during project execution with the following minimum duties:
• Interpret process requirements of RFPs and develop the high level process design, working with B&V global technology leaders as needed.
• Develop all process calculations needed to support
• Develop the process flow diagrams and related mass balance calculations
• Develop the process mechanical portion of the P&IDs for the project
• Provide process input to equipment specifications and procurements
• Coordinate with related design disciplines to ensure process design elements are properly incorporated in the project

Supports mitigation of risk related to projects/technologies.

Quality/Continuous Improvement; establishes related processes and promotes a culture that is conducive to quality especially leading process and ensure process is followed by the design team. Assure all hazards are avoided.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience
Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline
Intermediate ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
Basic industry knowledge and technology trends
Basic knowledge of company quality program
Basic knowledge of construction & constructability practices & principles
Basic knowledge of procurement & contract administration
Basic knowledge of process, procedures for project controls and estimating
Basic knowledge of technical aspects of the proposal process

Experience in some of the following areas:
• Desalination
• Process model simulation (Goldsim, etc.)
• Acid Mine Drainage
• Tailings Treatment
• Oil/Gas Frac Water Treatment or Management
• Water Reuse Treatment
• Mining Solids Handling & Disposal
• Smart P&ID and PFD Tools
