Functions in a technical specialist/entry level supervisory capacity. In a technical design role, solves difficult technical problems, as well as provides consultation and training. In addition to design and production responsibilities, directs efforts of other engineering technician professionals as required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Position requires engineering knowledge and design experience in the Power Generation Engineering business. Must use knowledge and experience to perform checking, design, coordination, function in field environment, or other tasks requiring technical engineering judgment and decisions. Must be able to assist in the supervision of other technicians as required, including mentoring, teaching and providing feedback on their performance. Must have good knowledge of Power Piping design and be familiar with B31.1 Power Piping Code. Must be detail oriented. Must be capable of working with multiple software packages such as AutoCAD, Microstation, PDS, PDMS, Powrtrak and/or others. Significant experience with Powrtrak or PDS is highly desirable. Must be able to work in an organization with a diverse culture and diverse career opportunities in Energy related projects such as Combined Cycle and Coal-Fired generation Plants and Air Quality Projects. Many of these projects may require travel and/or short term field assignments both domestic and international. Typical responsibilities with this assignment consist of but not limited to: ● Checking of Equipment/plant and piping layout/modeling and engineering drawings in conformance with the project and company standards/specifications, applicable industry codes and design criteria ● Checking of piping isometrics and bill of materials ● Checking of P&IDs ● Review of vendor information ● Providing technical support to all disciplines in the project team ● Be able to start from conception and provide detailed layout of equipment and piping as end product ● Field walk downs and data gathering at Client facilities, determining tie-in locations and field routings
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years experience coupled with an Associate of Applied Science Degree or minimum 12 years experience with Drafting Diploma. Equal Opportunity Employer – Minority/Disabled/Veterans/Females
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Good time management skills, exhibits leadership skills, highly motivated, team oriented and a sound decision maker. Ability to estimate assignment duration and man-hours. Ability to cope with moderate to high levels of stress. Knowledge of Auto Cad and or Microstation. Significant experience with Powrtrak or PDS is highly desirable. A practical knowledge of B31.1 Power Piping code. Experience designing and routing various power piping systems, including high energy steam and feedwater piping is desired. Detail oriented with a desire to maintain a high level of quality in all design deliverables.
