Primary Purpose:
Performs functions requiring intermediate knowledge and use of electronic applications, standards and document control processes/procedures in support of creating and modifying deliverables. May begin to provide technical guidance to other engineering technicians.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate is expected to be very knowledgeable in, and to perform engineering and design in one or more of the following Electrical design and drafting areas related to industrial power generation projects: equipment layout, electrical one-lines, schematic and wiring diagrams, grounding, duct bank and tray layouts.

The candidate must possess fundamental electrical knowledge for underground and above ground raceway routing skills.

Candidate must also be able to read one lines and be able to size and route underground and above ground raceway systems.

The candidate must also have basic knowledge of physical raceway, grounding, and lighting systems. Also possess the ability to read and understand vendor drawing for electrical and mechanical equipment, etc.

Responsibilities include ensuring the design drawings and layouts are complete and meet Black & Veatch requirements and all applicable codes and standards. Design layout and drawings shall be compliant with recommended practices, sketches, notes, and any written or verbal instructions given, as well as all project design requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires a minimum of 2 years experience,coupled with an Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design related technology preferred. Diploma or Certificate required.

Microstation software experience is a plus. Experience with three dimensional modeling software packages is preferred but not required.

Good verbal and written communication skills coupled with excellent coordination skills. Teamwork is essential; candidate must be able to work well with technicians, engineers, and support staff from within the discipline as well as amongst other engineering disciplines.

Microsoft Windows Word and Excel experience desired.
