Primary Purpose:
Functions in a mid-level engineer capacity. Under minimal supervision, performs client relation and engineering analysis duties related to the monitoring and diagnostics of operating power generation assets.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The Performance & Optimization Specialist will lead and execute projects for Black & Veatch’s Power Generation Services (PGS) business line, with emphasis on the Asset360 Solution. Asset360 is a data analytics based software and service offering that helps owners and operators of conventional generation, renewable generation, power distribution, water treatment facilities, etc monitor and improve the performance and health of their assets by diagnosing equipment and performance issues, optimizing operations, and performing integrated planning and forecasting activities. The Black & Veatch Monitoring & Diagnostics service continues to grow, which results in a need for top-level engineering talent to lead the Monitoring & Diagnostics service for new clients. Due to the nature of the complex issues that are detected and resolved as a part of this service, significant experience in the operation, monitoring, or maintenance of gas turbine, combined cycle, gas-fired thermal, coal-fired, or renewable generation is needed. Areas of responsibility include: Performance Consulting Services Client relationship management Remote monitoring and diagnostics Plant Performance audits and testing Boiler optimization services Plant Performance software configuration and use Must have excellent computer skills and desire to work in the field of thermodynamics and/or reliability engineering.

Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 5 years related work experience

Preferred Job Qualifications:
Experience with operating power generation assets is required. Due to the variety of potential projects, expertise in gas turbine, combined cycle, gas-fired thermal, coal-fired, or renewable generation is needed. Experience in asset performance and reliability is very beneficial. Ability to learn on the fly, use engineering judgment to solve complex and interesting problems, strong written and verbal communication, and desire to develop and execute industry leading solutions are critical. Professional Engineering License or desire to pursue is strongly preferred. Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
