The primary focus of the job will be modeling the performance of solar photovoltaic (PV) energy projects using software such as PVsyst, System Advisor Model, and excel based tools. The position will also include exposure to other renewable technologies: biomass, wind, geothermal, solar, hydro, etc. The position will involve a wide variety of assignments including: solar resource assessments, energy production estimates, performance assessments of operating PV projects, due diligence, siting, feasibility studies, site visits, new technology evaluation, project proposal development, conceptual design, design review, and cost estimates. The position will entail interaction with clients including: energy project developers, financial institutions, energy end-users, investors, government agencies, utilities, and other organizations. The position will require communicating technical information to a non-technical audience in written reports, over the phone, in emails, and in person
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
•Support and contribute to the authorship of reports, studies, and proposals.
•Prepare solar resource assessments and energy production estimates using computer models such as PVsyst or System Advisor Model (SAM).
•Evaluate how operational PV power plants perform when compared to expectations set by computer models.
•Develop technical and economic analyses of projects and technologies using models built in Microsoft Excel.
•Work with others in multi-disciplinary teams.
•Assist with solar PV design. This may include analysis, engineering calculations, research, selection, layout, etc., necessary to develop design documents.
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly through formal reports, presentations, memoranda and email.
•Must be able to function equally well in collaborative, multi-discipline teams, and self-directed independent assignments.
•Must be self-motivated, with an ability to balance multiple projects while working under tight deadlines.
•A working understanding of energy economics.
•Experience with Microsoft excel including VBA.
•Fluent in a second language such as Spanish, Japanese, or Mandarin
•A working understanding of the electric power industry
•EIT or FE preferred
Preferred Experience:
•Should have some experience with solar energy projects, PVsyst, and System Advisor Model (SAM)
Preferred Skills: Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel. Ability to develop Visual Basic macros preferred. Demonstrated experience in performing solar resource assessments and energy production modeling using PVsyst and System Advisor Model (SAM). Specialty computer skills including GIS, database design, scheduling, Monte Carlo analysis preferred, but not required. Strong writing and presentation skills.
