Functions in a mid level engineer capacity, or technical specialist. Under general supervision, performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis. Broadens knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The position includes serving in a mid-level engineer capacity. Under supervision performs design and construction phase services for automation, instrumentation, control and SCADA projects for water and wastewater utilities. The successful candidate will possess a mix of written and verbal communication skills, I&C design experience, and I&C technical knowledge.
Design projects to include P&ID development, instrument installation details, schematics, PLC one-lines, network diagrams, instrument and control specifications, input/output schedules and instrument schedules. Construction phase services include shop drawing review, answering requests for information, performing inspections, testing, attending construction meetings, attending factory acceptance tests, and coordinating with the contractor and resident engineer. Additional responsibilities include the following:
•Coordinate I&C design activities with multi-discipline team
•Perform equipment selection research and develop recommendations with supporting materials
•Develop familiarity with departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies.
•Provide support and research for presentations and reports for professional organizations.
•Provide support and research in development of studies and technical reports
•May direct other engineers and designers
•May provide support to business development or pursuit activities
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 3 years related work experience
Preferred Job Qualifications:
•E.I.T. Certification
•Work experience in instrumentation, control or electrical design
•Experience using CAD design tools. AutoCAD or Microstation preferred
•Proficient with Microsoft Office productivity applications
•Water and/or wastewater industry experience a plus
•Experience with PLC, HMI or DCS applications
