Functions in a mid level engineer capacity, or technical specialist. Under general supervision, performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis. Broadens knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Professional will be responsible for delivery of Black & Veatch’s Asset360 solution. Asset360 is a data analytics-based software and service offering that helps owners and operators of power generation facilities monitor the performance of their generating assets, diagnose equipment and performance issues, optimize operations, and perform integrated planning and forecasting activities. Related responsibilities may include:
Plant Performance Consulting Services
• Remote monitoring and diagnostics
• Plant performance audits and testing
• Neural net combustion optimization system configuration services
• Specialized training services
Plant Performance Software Tools
• Real-time performance monitoring systems
• Plant optimization software
• Plant data analysis programs
Fuels Management Tools
• Analytical boiler model configuration
• Fuel purchasing, blending, and burning analysis
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Applicant should possess a BS or MS in mechanical engineering with emphasis on thermal/fluid systems or controls. Other engineering or technical degreed candidates will be considered with the right practical experience.
Work Experience:
Applicant should have 3-10 years experience in operation, maintenance, or engineering services in support of power generation facilities. A general understanding of all areas of plant operation, maintenance, and unit controls is desired in addition to specific experience, training, or understanding in the following areas:
• Implementation of condition monitoring practices such as vibration analysis, or thermal performance monitoring or testing practices
• Plant performance modeling, monitoring, optimization
• Combustion controls, optimization, neural networks
• Plant operations and maintenance, operations training
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Software
• Must have strong PC skills and aptitude
• Prefer specific experience with or understanding of software for plant modeling, performance monitoring, optimization, data analysis and presentation, etc.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
Foreign Language
• Not required
Professional Registration or License
• FE required; PE or willingness to pursue within first year
