Functions in a senior lead engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, modify or create deliverables and perform assignments of a design nature by applying basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop complex design concepts. Provide technical guidance and may provide direction to other engineering professionals.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
To function as Lead technician under general direction from his/her supervisor. To apply basic engineering principles to develop complex design concepts. To provide technical guidance and direction to other engineering professionals. To proactively apply all the departmental procedures and to demonstrate personal accuracy and drive continual improvement and change management efforts To review and accurately determine the correct format and contents for the required deliverables. To promote quality within project/group/section. To review design inputs in order to ensure consistency. To assist team to ensure deliverables are in compliance with code/project requirement. Responsible for drawing control and historical records. To apply judgment and to make decisions. To perform design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records. To review the deliverables of others. To support field activities. To communicate project design requirements, progress and schedules. Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests. To communicate client interests and drivers to project team members and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns. To assist discipline or department management in developing and communicating appropriate design standards and process improvement activities. To identify training and development needs for project personnel To participate in career planning and learning and development. To supervise engineering technicians, including mentoring, instructing, delegation of work and providing feedback. To assist in monitoring staffing levels and available skill sets for project(s). To act in capacity of a “lead person”. Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction. Basic Knowledge : Construction & constructability practices/principles, procurement & contract administration, process, procedures for project controls and estimating, management techniques and company/division HR programs, policies, procedures, and organization structure Intermediate Knowledge: Industry knowledge and technology trends, knowledge of company quality program, engineering design principles and applicable design procedures Advanced Knowledge: Engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental procedures, ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned. knowledge of other disciplines To have effective communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualification Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Experience (Years) 12+ Years Software Skills AutoCAD 2005 / 2010 Any 3D software experience MS office modules Domain Area (preferred) Power plant > Drafting skills > Piping layout and detailing with supervisory skills

Technical: Ability to use the appropriate electronic applications and programs required for performing assignments. Intermediate knowledge of company quality program. Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned. Advanced knowledge of other disciplines. Intermediate knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides related to assigned engineering discipline. Basic knowledge of procurement & contract administration.
