Primary Purpose:
Functions as a technical specialist or in a lead role. With minimal supervision, applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses for problems and methods. Expands knowledge and skill set in area of discipline. May start to expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Hydromechanical design work pursuant to Black & Veatch hydropower engineering contracts; support marketing and proposal efforts; inspect project sites in Northern California with clients to assess project needs and write scopes of work for rehabilitation type of projects or new construction projects; perform Post Design Services (construction support, field engineering, as-building among others) at various project sites in Northern California and other West Coast locations; prepare feasibility studies, detail design plans and specifications, cost estimates for various mechanical systems in Hydropower and Large Hydraulic Structures projects; evaluate manufacturer submittals, data, reports, etc., for conformance to drawings and specifications; provide support to technical Leader of hydropower and hydraulic structures mechanical design work based in Sacramento; provide support to hydropower and hydraulic structure engineering pursuits.

Minimum Qualifications:
BS or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering plus five years of related experience. Must have Professional Engineering registration. Experience must include experience as a consulting or design engineer in the hydropower field and experience preparing drawings and creating specification packages for hydromechanical projects. Must have experience interfacing with clients, and have ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in inclement weather. Job involves travel to project sites 10% to 15% of time.
