Black & Veatch UK is currently looking for a new Graduate Engineer - Renewable Energy in Redhill, Surrey.
The role is for an immediate start, and the ideal candidate already have relevant work experience (in addition to the academic background) in solar, wave/tidal, biomass or wind in that order.
To work as part of the renewables team providing technical assistance on feasibility studies, design, specification and implementation of renewable energy projects. Assist with various marketing and tender initiatives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• To work effectively on several renewable consulting projects concurrently.
• To work alongside other professionals in multi disciplinary teams.
• To undertake engineering and economics aspects of renewable energy projects.
• To prepare technical and non technical reports.
• To prepare plant specifications.
• To liaise with external organisations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
• Minimum 2:1 degree from a leading University in Engineering or a related subject, working towards a professional qualification such as Chartered Engineer. Ideally, in addition, an MSc or equivalent in Renewable Energy, or related subject. Proven interest in working in the marine renewables sector long-term.
Minimum Experience:
• Should have a first relevant work experience working on renewable energy related work as specified in the ‘principal purpose’ above, in solar, wave/tidal, biomass or wind in that order. This work experience could have been gained through a University course and/or placement/dissertation.
Mimimum Requirements:
• Excellent written and verbal English (due to report writting for Clients and internal purposes).
• Highly numerate and well developed MS Excel skills (ideally including VBA).
• Well developed report writing skills, using MS Word.
• Initiative, self-reliance, and drive to deliver results.
• Prioritising, planning, and organising own workload.
• Accountability, including level of self-motivation and ambition.
• Communication and team-working skills and sharing / using best practice information.
• Influencing others, including communication skills and self-confidence in general.
