Functions in an entry level designer capacity. Under close supervision, performs routine aspects of engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to prescribed techniques and procedures to complete substation design project assignments.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Job duties will also include designing, preparing and developing different aspects of substation design project assignments: Physical layouts, Conduit Layout, Protective relay design, Schematic, interconnection drawings, Panel wiring, Circuit Breaker & Power Transformer wiring, cable schedule and creating bill of materials. Engineering Standards: Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies and procedures. Quality / Continuous Improvement: Develops an understanding and complies with the B&V quality program. Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis. Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Project Coordination: Shares information with others as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology or Electrical related field of study preferred. GCSC (Draft generic educational equivalent required). Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
Non-Technical: Learning on the Fly, Problem Solving, Perseverance, Patience, Time Management, Drive for Results, Self Development, Customer Focus, Listening,Informing. Technical: Intermediate knowledge of Computer Automated Drafting Design (CADD) or other applications or design or modeling skills. Basic knowledge of engineering standards, systems, document control, departmental guides and B&V policies and procedures. Basic industry knowledge and technology trends. Basic knowledge of company quality program. Basic ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
