Responsible for project development coordination of the construction sequence and activities on various projects during the proposal, estimating and client meetings through the award phases of various projects. Coordinates compliance with the schedule, safety, cost, and quality decisions in conjunction with the Project Field Manager, Proposal Manager, Director of Estimating and project teams. Direction Received: Frequent, from Project Management and various managers with-in the B&V organization through coordination of the Constructability Manager.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages and coordinates many activities for compliance within the proposal level 1 & 2 schedules, monitors and assists in preparing subcontract requirements; Very instrumental in writing, assembling and preparing the Project Construction Execution Plan. Provides leadership mentoring to field managers and professionals as required. Monitors and reports on construction trends and does research in different fields of the construction arena for more cost effective ways of estimating projects. Takes actions necessary to provide input to project budget and schedule requirements. Attends pre construction and return site visits as required for the proposal, estimating and construction. Must be comfortable with attending client meetings, site visits, and internal proposal and project meetings with division managers with-in the B&V organizations. Reports weekly progress and must be very active in the decision making for site layouts and best practice initiatives for new project development from Proposals to project mobilization. Activity involved with Project Controls development to support the change management system. Adheres to Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, Guides, and Contractual commitments. Has full knowledge of the safety program and acts as the Safety Representative on site as required during project visits. Has general knowledge of all disciplines of construction. Establishes project needs for Proposal activities to provide cost for field staffing, construction equipment, and Project indirect needs for all proposals involved in. Has input to quality requirements for projects by working closely with B&V quality managers. Understands the major commercial and deliverable terms of the construction contracts and provides input within these terms. Provides information for information needed from the construction portion of the client and construction monthly report. Coordinates with the Field Engineers or home office engineers on engineering deliverables during the Project Proposal and development phases. Identifies and assesses improvement opportunities which will add value. Champions continuous improvement efforts. Assesses and supports the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements. Proactively supports, encourages and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities; Supervises work of others as required. EOE-M/D/V/F
Minimum Qualifications:
Construction Field experience is required. 8 to 20 years estimating experience is required.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
2+ years as Construction Manager preferred. Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering or heavy industrial experience preferred, or 3+ years of experience at the superintendent level. Knowledge of construction technology (Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle, Pulverized Coal, Circulating Fluidized Bed, Nuclear, Oil, Gas & Chemical, Water Facilities and willingness to learn other market needs ) Intermediate computer skills, Intermediate Knowledge of EPC industry, Constructability knowledge and problem solving shills, Intermediate Knowledge of project budget process and tools, Basic Knowledge of department budget process and tools, Intermediate Knowledge of Project controls, Intermediate Risk assessment/management, Basic Administrative policies and procedures Basic Construction Project Management Systems Intermediate Conceptual planning ability, Intermediate Conflict management skills, Intermediate Leadership ability (team building, coaching, mentoring, change management, advising), Multi-tasking ability (prioritize, organize, schedule work), Intermediate Presentation skills, Problem solving skills (identify, analyze, research, evaluate, resolve) Intermediate Project management skills, Basic Communication and meeting skills, intermediate Time reporting systems, Basic Expense reporting policies and procedures, Basic Supervisor Competencies.
